Peridot, sometimes called chrysolite, is a transparent yellow-green variety of olivine. Peridot is one of the few gemstones that occurs in only one color.

A gem variety of forsterite, olivine family, peridot is characterized by its hardness of between 6.5 and 7 on the Mohs scale.
